Indonesian Oil Palm Plantation And Its Downstream Industries Directory, 2012
The palm oil sector - from upstream to downstream sub-sector - including crude palm oil (CPO), palm kernel oil (PKO), cooking oil, soap, and oleo-chemical industries, has considerable contribution to the country's exports and its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Indonesia leads in oil palm plantations and CPO production in the world. The country, therefore, has big potential to develop industries to produce pslm oil derivatives such as bio-diesel, biogas and oleo-chemical with the availability in aboundance of CPO and PKO as the basic materials. Based on a statistical report issued earlier this year by the Central Statistic Agency (BPS), animal and vegetable fats and oils accounted for US$ 21.655,3 million or 13.37% of the country's exports of commodities other than oil and gas in 2011. The export value made animal and vegetable fats/oils the second langest contributors after mineral fuel which accounted for US$ 27.443,9 million or 16,94% of the country's exports of commodities not including oil and gas. Indonesia's exports of commodities not including oil and gas were valued at US$ 162.023,5 million that year.
