The European Union (EU)-Indonesia Trade Support Programme Component 1 (also known as TSP-WTO) is pleased to publish a scries of research publications on international trade issues that most concern indonesia as if moves along a new path of Development. this series has emerged from TSP-WTO's rescarch-information-dissemination and public outreach project launched in July 2006 and its training programme initiated in March 2006. From its inception, TOP Component 1 has songht to make well-researchhed, relevant and ""user-friendly""information the World Trade Organization,multilateral trade system and related issues available to a wide and varied audience in Indonesia The papers are intended to generate public discussion, the rescarch publications have been linked to a series of TSP-WTO public seminars that have taken place in regional Indonesia-including Lampung,Makasar, Manado, Medan, Pontianak-as well as Jakarta, The TSP rescarch and dissemination programme has been designed to complement its training of a variety of trade related stakeholders in Indonesia. The fifth and current rescarch publication in this series is entitled international Trade Policy Analysis A Handbook of Applied Methodologies with Case Studies from Indonesia and East Asia by Carolyn L. Gates,Le Quoc Phuong and Imelda Maidir; and relevant case studies prepared for an accompanying CD-ROM by Adrian D. Lubis, among others. One essential atm of this handbook is to assist those in Indonesia's trade policy community particulary the younger, less experienced members, who are responsible for rescarch and analysis support tasks. Spectifically it seeks to hasten their journey of lerning and improving their trade-polcy rescarch, analytical and writing skills. The need for this handbook, which can also be need as a ""self-help""lerning tool for trade policy research and analysis,has unfolded over many mouths of TSP-WTO's training and dissemination activities taking place throughout Indonesia in 2006 and 2007
