Indonesian Manufacturers Directory, 2009 Volume II
Although still shadowed by the impact from subprime mortage crisis that happened in the United States in 2007, and continue with financial global crisis in 2008, Indonesian economy can still hold up with positive growth rate. In 2007, Indonesian economy grew 6,3 percents, in 2008,although experiencing such a slow movement, it still can grow 6.1 percents. For 2009, it is presdicted that the growth is still experiencing of deceleration and predidicted will grow between 2,5 percents to 3.5 percents. This Growth which is considered high while most part of developed countries and part of Asian countries experiencing such contraction has proved that Indonesian economy has had better resilience in supporting national economics growth. Industrial Manufactuturing sector which is since few decades ago has been the biggest contributor to Gross Domestic Product/PDB of Indonesia in 2008 can grow as high as 3,36 percents. And in 2009, this growth is predicted to decelerate to become around 2,5 percents. The slow growth of manufacturing industrial sector in 2009 is the impact of global economic recession that has degraded most of industry manufacturing product demend as consequence that leads to the decreasing of world consumer purchasing power. Since June 2008 ago, price of world crude oil is free falling to the level of US$ 38 per barrel at the end of 2008 from US$ 147, as the consequence of thedecreasing in world demand, nevertheless this degradation of world crude oil price has not yet helped the movement of world industry. If observation of national industry movement is done for the past ten years (1999-2008), it is seen that national industrial growth is offen under national-economic growth rate, except in 1999 where national economic growth noted the growth of 0,79 percents. Similar situation was also happening in the year of 2000 and 2001. However, in 2002, when national-economy grow was high enough to about 4,38 %, the growth of national industry can only grew around 3,68 %. This condition was repeated in 2007, national-economy grew relatively high which was 6,3 %, national industry experienced deceleration because its growth rate was only around 5,15 %. Even in 2008, it kept declining to the growth rate of around 3,36 % and at the same time national-economy noted deceleration of growth which was not significant, which is 6,1 %.
